It starts by introducing the concept of AI to and provides a background on the domain and technology in general. Secondly, following a comprehensive review of literature, seven key themes i.e. the most pervasive arguments for and against the social implementation of AI in society are identified. The exploration of many social theories, relevant to the debate and our understanding as to why these positions have been adopted are presented and applied. 10 key actors in the AI sector are identified via an internationally credible and reliable information repository: UK House of Lords Select Committee on AI. The expert insights provided by these actors and their opinions on the seven key themes are critically analysed and evaluated. By reading this dissertation, I hope that the reader can understand the situation we find ourselves in with AI and why it’s the case. There are lots of voices and opinions regarding the future impact of AI on corporations, employment, individuals and society. This dissertation highlights what is being said about AI and why certain actors say these things. It sheds light on how and in what ways opinions and perspectives on AI are being framed. How do these stances influence society’s opinions on AI? This dissertation seeks answers to these questions.
