This paper deals with the relation between social media and music industry, how the first one change forever the second one which was one of the most powerful and profitable industry since the 80’s. Results show that the music ecosystem is in the middle of a transition where young people are completely comfortable with the digitalization of the music and payment solutions and older ones are more reticent about the change even so they are more and more ready to use it. There is also an in between traditional media and digital, both can work together to propose the best offer to all the customers. More and more people are using online streaming platforms and in the same time are going to live performance. The other thing is how the music industry and streaming platforms are working together to be in adequation with their time and answer to new needs of artists and consumers. They need to deal with the change in power distribution and put themselves in the middle of the ecosystem. This is what is done when they brought a local artist to a global one.
