Résumé : |
Online gaming is one of the most popular leisure activities today and its global growth is followed by the spectacular increase of video game spectating, mirroring the evolution of traditional sports. As professional online gaming (or eSports) is developing, so are the live video streaming platforms which broadcast them, as well as the will to increasingly monetize them. This study establishes relationship between time spent watching video game streams and likeness to spend money on video games and pay for additional services on live streaming platforms such as Twitch.TV. Quantitative research included in this study based on N=306 respondents to an online questionnaire also highlights the importance of community and social interaction on streams as a motive for online purchasing behavior. |
