Obesity, diabetes but also cardio vascular diseases are examples of food-related issues. This is linked to the massive industrialization of food and the more recurrent use of processed food by individuals. Indeed, industrial use products that can be harmful if they are eaten in an uncontrolled quantity, like salt, sugar or saturated fat. But this process is accompanied by the raising of awareness from individuals. New diet trends like veganism, vegetarianism, paleo diet, lactose or gluten free meals, are the proofs of an evolution in consumer perception but also and foremost of consumer’s knowledge and interest in what they put in their bodies. Indeed, people all around the world are even more aware of the importance of eating healthy and the danger of processed and industrialized food. Unfortunately, those evolutions are not mainstream. If some people are even more aware of the importance of food and the repercussions it can have on your body, the majority still ignores it or at least does not take time to analyze and understand the benefits or dangers of what they put in their bodies, because they look for food that is easy and fast to cook,
because they need to buy cheaper products but also because they do not understand which product is good for them and which is not. In order to help consumers understand what they buy and eat, many governments have put in place nutritional labelling.
