Social media has taken a very considerable place in the way people interact between each other. This seminar paper deals with the question of how social media have changed the political sphere, at the age of digital. The author has chosen to focus her work on the period of Presidential Elections to analyse the political communication of candidates during their campaign. It is also a relevant period to analyse engagement rate nearby citizens. Indeed, this is the moment when people feel the most concerned in politics. Specifically, the author has chosen to precise her work on French Elections of 2017, and found interesting to compare this period with the United States of America (USA) in 2016. These countries are good examples of well-established democracies, where social media became key players for candidates in the digitalization of their strategy during the campaigns.
