It has become a symbol of development and wealth, and has an impact on the everyday life of millions of people around the world. Academic research about fashion is diverse, and fashion is becoming a subject of interest in a lot of different fields of study such as economy, sociology, and urban studies. Fashion has always been linked to cities because it is amidst the urban gatherings of wealth and power that fashion was born, being a way for the royal and imperial courts to show their influence, and fashion even became a way for monarchs to show their wealth off to each other. Nowadays, fashion still looks for the same in a city: influence, purchasing power, customers and professionals. The rules are still the same.
