CHEF D'ENTREPRISE ; ENTREPRISE ; FEMME ; INDERésumé : The purpose of this document is to understand the factors that are influencing women entrepreneurship in India and to highlight the ones that are the most critical and determinant. The analysis focuses on both rural and urban women and on both low-educated and high-educated women in the context of rapid economic growth of India.
Secondary data have been used in order to highlight the main factors influencing women entrepreneurship and to discuss it and a quantitative study has been done in order to focus on the point of view of high educated Indian people and especially on young and future leaders’ mindset since most of the respondents had done a business school in India. The findings of the research suggest that the first factor having a negative influence on women willingness to start a business is the social burden of old and shared values according to which the duty of women is to stay at home, taking care of children and family. Surprisingly, the lack of financial resources may be overcome thanks to an increasing access to micro credit and local self-help groups. Finally, the Indian government and the numerous NGOs are playing a meaningful role in women empowerment and in women ability to start an activity thanks to programs focusing mainly on women emancipation, education, access to information and to finance and empowerment. This paper focuses on the factor influencing women entrepreneurship in India at a national level, however, further researches should focus on more specific parts of the population in order to understand their mindset. Also, primary data have been collected among high educated people who are speaking English and who come from high social class. In this respect the answers are relative to those Indian citizens.Note de contenu : PGE: Bibliogr.P.24-26 Programme : PGE-Rouen Spécialisation : Entrepreneurship Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=496399
