Résumé : |
Beyond the traditional financial view that evokes market risks or credit risk as the main factor in bank failures. The events observed since the early 2000s (Enron, Worldcom, Parmalat and the September 2001 attacks) have served as a reminder that another source of significant financial losses could come from operational operations: fraud, embezzlement, convictions and malfunctions.
Since the 2008 financial crisis, regulators have been paying particular and increasing attention to risk management, and expect financial institutions to have transparent and verifiable risk measurement tools.
On the other hand, the growing complexity and technicality of operations, the increase in volumes and the development of real time are increasingly reducing the "right to make mistakes", when the cost of a mistake can quickly amount to hundreds of thousands or even millions of Euros. The context is conducive to an increased awareness because operational risks are becoming, like credit risk and market risk, an intrinsic component of the banking business.
To meet these requirements, banks are investing more and more in artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence has really developed in recent years and many solutions are emerging.
In order to study the various contributions of artificial intelligence to the management of banking operational risks, we will start by defining risk management in banking.
