Besides many opportunities for development cooperation, there are still have many challenges for suppliers in Vietnam to satisfy the high product requirement and strengthen the relationship with those Japanese end users. This paper’s purpose is to research the efficiency of Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) performance to the product development of Japanese resin end-users in Vietnam. It is indicated that there are five main benefits gained from implement ESI and they are saving time, decreasing cost, improve quality, reduce cost and innovation. The paper refers and develops from the definition and theoretical framework of several previous researches. Towards demonstrating this hypothesis, I research it through a survey conducted more than 40 surveys from Japanese resin end users in Vietnam. Also, I explore the actual experience through several interviews with purchasing managers of Japanese end users (Canon, Honda). The result also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between suppliers and customers to improve each stage in the product development process. And finally, the recommendation raises some difficulties in reality and propose solutions that create a favorable condition to enhance ESI performance.
