POLITIQUE SOCIALE ; MUSIQUE ; VENEZUELA ; JEUNE ; EGALITERésumé : El Sistema is not simply a state funded musical program for the Venezuelan youth. With millions of students and resounding success worldwide, the Sistema is a true catalyst for social change and cultural transformation in Venezuela. With Venezuelan figures performing in the best orchestras of the world, the musical program is a perfect showcase of the country. However, recently, the politic and economic situation is alarming: hyperinflation and deadly protests are the daily life of Venezuelans. The continuity of the Sistema is endangered with the political tensions and the political power is called into question. Nicolas Maduro that wants a rapid development of the program in the future at the same time oppresses members that dare protesting against him. Despite a spread across the world of the program and the success of its orchestras, we can wonder if the program will survive the political and economic crisis. On the other hand, the crisis raises fundamental interrogations, especially on the link between musical integration and politics. As many artists use their art to protest against the government such as the Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero, it appears that the members of the Sistema prefer silence to avoid dramatic repercussion on their life and career. The recent crisis questions the whole sistema since its creation and emerges the idea that it could have been since the beginning a manipulation of the youth for the purposes of the Chavist revolution.
