TIC ; SUPPORT DE L'INFORMATION ; CONSOMMATIONRésumé : This paper deals with the native podcasts wave that has been unfurling upon the French media world for a few years now. It highlights the evolution on both consumers and creators’ sides that has led to the tremendous success of podcasting. As the symbol of the audio and voice against the screens, the native podcast boom demonstrates important social changes regarding today’s media consumption. While the native podcast was at first an adaptation of the offer, it was progressively legitimized as a novel and full-fledged type of media characterized by a new format and content specificities. Finally, this work questions the budding ecosystem which will shape the future of native podcast.
To do so, this paper was built on a collection of several secondary data from different theories, articles, and studies, and also on the basis of three qualitative interviews of experts1 in the podcasts sector. As a mirror of today’s society, podcasting meets new consumers’ expectations on many aspects like demands regarding the acceleration of time, concerns regarding singular topics, and the like. Podcast listeners are involved in the media environment and they foster the freedom of speech.
Ultimately, it is important to note that this paper does not pretend to be an exhaustive analysis of the media offer regarding today’s society trends but a first interpretation of the native podcast success through its match with important social evolutions.Programme : PGE-Rouen Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=538111
