Based on a qualitative research of 10 interviews with professionals, both CIOs and consultants in order to have a whole vision of the digital transformation. The findings help to have a response on how a transformation project is managed and how it impacts the IT department. Indeed, the literature gives a good idea about the advantages of digitalization and the role of the IT department and CIO in a company in general. However, this research completes this by studying the governance of the IT department and the CIO for the decision in the context of transformation. Also, it investigates the role of a consulting firm in the change. So, this research study can be useful for consulting firm, to understand what matters for the CIOs and their department in order to best accompany them. Moreover, it can help CIO to know how a to manage a transformation project and stakes of digitalization.
