One of the supply chains sectors that was the most impacted in this pandemic crisis was the automotive industry. In this paper, I chose to focus on five big groups of car manufacturers: Volkswagen AG, Daimler AG, BMW group, Renault group and General Motors. Therefore, my thesis will show and illustrate the impacts and consequences of Covid on automotive supply chains; But, more specifically, it will analyze the actions taken during the pandemic as for example the decision to shut down some locations and to do onshoring. Moreover, the problematic that I will try to solve is about the future perspective of automotive supply chains: what would be the best decision to take, stay onshore and do less offshore? or to be back at a high rate of outsourcing operations and take the risk to be again vulnerable with this type of situation?
