Résumé : |
Nowadays, climate change and its numerous negative consequences seem to be at the center of the concerns of associations, consumers, and governments. The pharmaceutical sector, especially, is one of the most polluting industries in the world.
It thus appears necessary to reduce its impact on the environment not only to meet regulatory requirements but also in an ethical concern with their customers. According to a report of McKinsey in 2012, companies in all the sectors are becoming more and more aware of the importance of these issues. Among the nearly 3,000 companies surveyed, 63% are actively reducing energy use, 61% are reducing waste from operations, 43% are reducing emissions from operations and 38% are reducing water use (McKinsey, 2012).
However, we can ask ourselves if these good intentions of the leaders of big pharmaceutical companies are translated into real action plans and if they find other interests than the only answer to the regulatory constraints. It will therefore be interesting to first examine the academic studies that have been carried out about the green supply chain in pharmaceutical companies. We will then analyze the CSR reports and KPIs of four international pharmaceutical companies over the last ten years to see if they have really made progress in terms of green supply chain. |
