For this purpose, a qualitative study was conducted with 8 in-depth interviews to experts in Chilean wine exports, like domestic brands export managers, and wine distributors in foreign markets.Amongst the findings that this research was able to obtain are that heritage would not work as a driver for Chilean wine consumption due to an important competition with many other wine producing countries in the world. Findings also showed that Carménère has a very big potential for growth, but due to its young age,it is not possible to achieve this potential overnight. A last finding suggests that there are big opportunities for Chile to increase its wine exports by exploiting new emerging markets with very big potential.This paper can be very useful for Chile’s wine industry stakeholders,especially as it talks about new market opportunities for Chilean wine.
