Temperatures all over the globe are becoming heater and heater, impacting most of farmers. Hailstorms, heat waves, drought, lack of water... The wine sector is being hit hard by global warming. As a result, winemakers have to react and to think about adaptability to face global warming. Since there is no turning back and given the fact that we enter another half century of unprecedented global warming, adaptation must be the watchword. Knowing that giving solutions without explaining the path is definitely useless for winemakers, we have divided our thoughts into three different steps, that can be implemented one after the other: we will begin by introducing short – term solutions, helping resolve harvests and winemaking practices issues, and then we will go over medium – term solutions, which have as an objective to help facing meteorological risks (hailstorms, drought). Finally, we will propose two long – term solutions to implement, concerning the choice of grape variety and irrigation. We will further shade these two last points, as research and development do not permit today to implement them up to 100%, regarding to environmental concerns involved by the use of water.
