FINANCE D'ENTREPRISE ; FINANCE DE MARCHE ; INVESTISSEMENT ; CRITIQUERésumé : This comprehensive research manuscript meticulously investigates the comparative long-termfinancial performance of sustainable investments and traditional investments, offering vital perspectives for a variety of stakeholders: individual investors, financial institutions, and policy makers. The escalating global interest and emphasis on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues have thrust sustainable investing into the spotlight. However, understanding the long?term financial feasibility and performance of such investment strategies, especially in juxtaposition with conventional methods, remains a topic demanding rigorous and systematic exploration. Our study incorporates both qualitative and quantitative analyses, assessing the perceptions of different demographics and scrutinizing actual financial data. It delves into the supposition that sustainable investments could not only parallel but potentially outperform traditional investments in the long run. Our findings indicate that both individual investors and financial industry professionals hold a strong conviction in the comparable, if not superior, long-term financial performance of sustainable investments. This belief has been largely influenced by the growing awareness of ESG issues and the desire to integrate these factors into investment decisions. Yet, these findings are not without potential caveats. We emphasized that several alternative explanations could impact these perceptions, including cognitive biases, inherent market variability, the influence of media, and the novelty effect associated with the emerging field of sustainable investing. These factors could potentially distort the perception of sustainable investments' long-term performance, reinforcing the necessity for continuous, in-depth investigation. Given the complexity of the financial ecosystem and the evolving nature of sustainable investments, our research underlines the crucial role of continuous scholarly pursuit in this area. A more granular examination of the ESG criteria contributing to performance, an understanding of how public policies affect sustainable investment, an in-depth exploration of the behavioral aspects influencing sustainable investment decisions, and a study on the interplay between sustainable investing and digital innovations are potential areas of future research. This research offers actionable recommendations for various stakeholders. We advocate thatindividual investors, backed by an understanding of the long-term performance of sustainable investments, integrate more of such investments into their portfolios. Financial institutions are urged to play a proactive role in educating clients about sustainable investing, in addition to integrating ESG criteria into their own investment strategies. Public policymakers can utilize our findings to consider creating financial and regulatory incentives to stimulate sustainable investment, and also contemplate stricter regulations for companies flouting ESG guidelines.
The swift rise of sustainable investing is reshaping the contours of the financial sector. It has become imperative for stakeholders to appreciate the evolving dynamics of this field. As such, our research underscores the need for meticulous, ongoing evaluation of the long-term performance of sustainable investments. By deepening our understanding of sustainable investing, we can aid investors in making informed decisions that contribute not only to financial gains but also to the broader goal of sustainability.Programme : MSc Finance, Investment & Wealth Management Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=581901
