CONTROLE ; INVENTAIRE ; PROGRAMMATION DYNAMIQUERésumé : Two of the most important objectives in supply chain and more specifically in inventory management is to minimize the cost and provide satisfactory level of service to the customers. For companies, inventory management plays the role as a balancer between supply and demand. It is also a buffer against uncertainty in the long and complex supply chain. Fundamental problems in this area are overstocking and understocking. With overstocking, the effects are high-cost storage, obsolete stock and tied-up capital. Thus, there has long been a strong interest to study for effective inventory control system. One of the most widely used inventory control policies is reorder – order-up-to level (s, S) system. In this paper, we attempt to implement dynamic programming algorithm to find optimal values of s, S in order to minimize the total cost of the system. We limit ourselves to the simple settings of single item, single level, single location with zero lead time and stationary stochastic Poisson demand. Stockout policy is considered with backorder allowance and backorder cost. Even though mathematical proof and interesting properties of optimal (s, S) system has been in existence since 1960 (Scarf, 1960), there is not a lot of available code published for this application to our knowledge. The goal of this is to provide valid algorithm code using Python to solve s, S to optimality. CAPACITE DE PRODUCTION ; INDE ; INVENTAIRERésumé : The COVID-19 pandemic, along with the recent inflation, has significantly impacted the world and has shown the world how important it is to allocate resources in an optimized way as the resources available in the world and the region are limited and to be able to satisfy the demand of the market and generate a profit for the company these resources must be utilized to the fullest of their extent. Production capital planning is an essential part of optimizing any production unit or site. In production planning, the lot sizing approach is one of the most important approaches and is also one of the most challenging problems. Lot sizing has been a constant topic of research throughout the years, and three is a lot of literature available on it. In this dissertation, we are going to explore the possibilities of applying a single-level capitated lot sizing approach in solving the production capacity planning for the biscuit industry in the MSME sector in India. The dissertation starts by introducing the importance of the food industry, then the significance of the biscuit industry with the value of the MSME sector in India and the need for production capacity planning, and then proceed to the literature review. After going through the literature review, the focus of this dissertation moves to formulating and defining the possible constraints and variables involved in the real world scenario for biscuit production in the MSME environment. After designing the model and defining the constraints, it is introduced and run in an excel environment with random data. At the end of the excel cyclic run, the results are obtained, and with result analysis, a conclusion is derived. The conclusion will also provide some future possible research topics and branches that can be useful in delivering better outcomes for the lot sizing approach for production capacity planning for the biscuit industry in India for the MSME sector.
