BRESIL ; CLIMAT ; SOURCE D'ENERGIE ; TRANSPORT ROUTIERRésumé : Automotive vehicles have been a significant source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, fueling global climate change. Internal combustion engine vehicles, burning fossil fuels like gasoline and diesel, play a central role in emitting these harmful gases, directly contributing to global warming. One emerging solution to mitigate vehicle GHG emissions is the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Powered by rechargeable batteries and electric motors, EVs produce zero exhaust emissions, significantly reducing local air pollution and GHG emissions. When transitioning to electric cars factors such as renewable energy sources for charging and infrastructural readiness are relevant to be discussed. Depending on a specific country's energy matrix, EVs may simply transfer pollution if electricity is predominantly generated from fossil fuels. Additionally, adequate charging facilities are needed, further complicating the transition. While European countries, especially Scandinavian nations, are ahead in adopting electric cars, not all countries are equally prepared for a complete transition. Factors such as natural resource availability, infrastructure investment, and incentive policies significantly impact EV adoption. In Brazil, challenges such as historical fossil fuel dependence and territorial extension represent significant barriers to a rapid transition. However, solutions such as the use of biofuels, like ethanol derived from sugarcane, offer promise. Biofuels present a renewable alternative to fossil fuels, aiding in GHG emission reduction and climate change mitigation. Brazil stands out globally as a leader in biofuel production, notably sugarcane ethanol, with the National Alcohol Program (Proálcool) serving as a milestone. Brazil's well-established biofuel infrastructure positions the country advantageously to tackle transportation sector emission challenges. CULTURE ; NAVIRE ; COMPORTEMENT ; DEVELOPPEMENT DURABLE ; THEORIERésumé : The study examined Hofstede’s cultural dimensions in relation to favorable perceptions and behaviors toward sustainable cruising. Specifically, it investigated whether low uncertainty avoidance, high orientation toward time, low power distance, high collectivism, and high femininity correlated with positive perceptions of sustainable cruising. Using the cognitive, affective, and normative dimensions of the Hierarchy of Effects Model, the study assessed participants’ level of positive perception. Green purchase intention, product attachment, and loyalty served as benchmarks for favorable behavior, drawn from previous research on pro-environmental consumer behavior. A web-based survey involving 155 participants, gathered via convenience and snowball sampling, assessed perception and behavior toward sustainable cruising using Likert-scale questions. Statements examining the cognitive dimension were developed using the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Signaling Theory. Formulation of statements for the affective dimension was based on the Goal-Directed Behavior Theory and Social Identity Theory. Construction of statements for the normative dimension used the Norm Activation Model and Theory of Reasoned Action. P-value analysis at a significance level of 0.05 determined whether correlations between Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, perceptions, and behaviors were significant. While the hypotheses regarding Hofstede’s cultural dimensions were rebutted, the correlation between positive perception of sustainability and behavior was validated. Further analysis involved creating subgroups based on age, gender, cruising history, and cruising interest. The study found the Theory of Planned Behavior as most influential for the cognitive dimension, the Goal-Directed Behavior Theory for the affective dimension, and the Norm Activation Theory for the normative dimension within the Hierarchy of Effects Model. Based on these findings, cruise companies can enhance positive perceptions and behaviors towards sustainability by incorporating emotional marketing, highlighting individual impact, and encouraging engagement among cruise passengers. INTELLIGENCE ARTIFICIELLE ; ENVIRONNEMENT ; DEVELOPPEMENT DURABLERésumé : In 2021, Geoffrey Hinton said, “I believe that the rapid progress of AI is going to transform society in ways we do not fully understand and not all of the effects are going to be good,”. This thesis will aim to analyze in the most complete way possible the role, impacts, threats, and benefits of AI, on the environment.
To do so we will try to answer the following questions: How can AI help preserve the environment and contribute to a better world? What are the main dangers of AI? In the long term, how can AI help predict environmental dangers? To what extent can AI be beneficial to society as a whole without causing ethical issues? And lastly, how can society adapt to new ways of living? Considering all the above, this study will seek to provide a complete analysis on “Exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence with environmental sustainability: Opportunities and Challenges”. We will identify how environmental risks like pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss can be tracked and managed with the use of Artificial Intelligence.
We first need to understand the concept of Artificial Intelligence. It is well-known as a branch of computer science that focuses on building smart machines that can carry out tasks that ordinarily call for human intelligence. To enable robots to see, learn, reason, and make decisions, artificial intelligence uses a variety of techniques, including machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.Programme : Tema Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=602274 Optimizing Energy Consumption and Water Management in small localities through Data Collection and AI Processing / Emmanuel ROCHET / 2024
