Titre : Off the Mark : How Grades, Ratings, and Rankings Undermine Learning (But Don't Have To) Type de document : e-book Auteurs : Jack SCHNEIDER ; Ethan L. ENSEIGNEMENT ; EVALUATIONRésumé : Amid widespread concern that our approach to testing and grading undermines education, two experts explain how schools can use assessment to support, rather than compromise, learning.Anyone who has ever crammed for a test, capitulated to a grade-grubbing student, or fretted over a child's report card knows that the way we assess student learning in American schools is freighted with unintended consequences. But that's not all. As experts agree, our primary assessment technologies-grading, rating, and ranking-don't actually provide an accurate picture of how students are doing in school. Worse, they distort student and educator behavior in ways that undermine learning and exacerbate inequality. Yet despite widespread dissatisfaction, grades, test scores, and transcripts remain the currency of the realm. In Off the Mark, Jack Schneider and Ethan Hutt explain how we got into this predicament, why we remain beholden to our outmoded forms of assessment, and what we can do to change course. As they make clear, most current attempts at reform won't solve the complex problems we face. Instead, Schneider and Hutt offer a range of practical reforms, like embracing multiple measures of performance and making the so-called permanent record "overwritable." As they explain, we can remake our approach in ways that better advance the three different purposes that assessment currently serves: motivating students to learn, communicating meaningful information about what young people know and can do, and synchronizing an otherwise fragmented educational system. Written in an accessible style for a broad audience, Off the Mark is a guide for everyone who wants to ensure that assessment serves the fundamental goal of education-helping students learn. RECHERCHE-DEVELOPPEMENTRésumé : In this study, we made an examination of different factors influencing the value of biotech companies. This analysis was conducted using the dependent variable EV/Revenue for
representation of the valuation of biotech companies and several independent explanatory variables. The results of the analysis show that the companies with high R&D intensity tend
to have a higher value. In other words, the market takes into consideration the R&D investments made by the biotech companies and anticipates a better performance from such
kinds of companies. We can also make a conclusion that the market treats CAPEX expenditures in line with R&D investments and, as a result, anticipates a better revenue
performance from biotech companies with higher CAPEX expenditures. It looks like the market doesn’t respond just to the fact of drug approval, as we didn’t find any links between
the biotech companies’ value and the product approval intensity. Finally, considering the significant level of biotech companies going on IPO with minimum revenues or without
revenues at all, we didn’t find any proof that the market gives more value to R&D investments made by less mature biotech companies. Despite a significant number of observations (1322), we should underline the fact that we base our analysis only on a one-year period due to high volatility in the healthcare industry provoked by the healthcare crises in recent yearsProgramme : MSc Corporate Finance Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=568522 How managers from multinational companies can effectively take into account cultural norms whilst performing performance appraisals in their cross-cultural teams / Elena WEIBEL / 2021

ENTREPRISE MULTINATIONALE ; EVALUATION ; MANAGEMENT INTERCULTUREL ; PERFORMANCERésumé : Organizations are constantly getting more globalized and virtual, and as it has been proven that working in diverse teams leads to better outcomes and innovation, more and more leaders tend to hire employees with different backgrounds. However, this requests a specific managerial skillset to be able to maneuver yourself around the cultural differences of these people working together. Some managerial acts are complicated enough as it is, but when mixed with different cultural norms it can be even more challenging to get your message across without seeming rude or disrespectful. Performance management and performance appraisal is one of those acts which becomes ten times harder when the manager faces differences in feedback culture and communication styles. For some, it is the organization’s responsibility to ensure that the processes put in place ensure the effectiveness of these managerial acts. For others, it is the manager’s responsibility to navigate through the cultural differences and adapt to the team.
The goal of this study is to answer this question and offer operational recommendations to managers facing these challenging situations. As we will see, organizations need to build specific standardized PA processes to ensure PA effectiveness in cross-cultural environments and these processes need to remain the same across all cultural situations. The adaptation needs to come from the manager performing the exercise and the success of the process will be depending on the transparency and openness of the climate. Thus, managers need to be trained to become the cultural translators of the process and develop the needed leadership behavior to ensure its effectiveness.Programme : MSc Human Resources Consulting Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=538576 HOW TO EVALUATE AND SELECT THE SUPPLIERS IN GSCM / Zi Jie PANG / 2020
Titre : HOW TO EVALUATE AND SELECT THE SUPPLIERS IN GSCM : Case Study of R Company Type de document : Mémoire Auteurs : Zi Jie PANG, Auteur Année de publication : 2020 Importance : 60p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Management
EVALUATION ; INDEX ; LOGISTIQUE ; SELECTION PROFESSIONNELLERésumé : This paper researched the question about how to evaluate and select suppliers under the GSCM mode. According to the trade-off between maximization of economic benefits and maximization of environmental benefits, this study establishes a supplier evaluation system suitable for GSCM mode, which mainly includes three primary indexes of Products, Supplier’s enterprise and Environment and nine secondary indexes. And a simple and practical model is also constructed by combining AHP with TOPSIS to deal with the information more effectively as well as ensure the accuracy of the results. Finally, the feasibility, operability and effectiveness of the model are verified by the case study of R company.
In the conclusion part of the paper, the author summarizes the limitations of this study and puts forward three directions worthy of discussion. The future research in this field is also prospected.Programme : MSc Supply Chain Management Spécialisation : Supply chain Management and purchasing Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=534344 Improving the standard multiples valuation method / Quentin PLESSIS / 2019

EVALUATION ; INVESTISSEMENT ; METHODE ; MODELE DEVALUATION DES ACTIFS FINANCIERSRésumé : Thus, how could we improve the accuracy of the standard multiples valuation method? We will try to develop a practical guide for this method, highlighting the areas of risk and providing further possible improvements developed by both academics and practitioners. As this method is based on four steps: selection of the value-driver and the multiple (1), identification of the peer group (2), estimation of the synthetic peer group multiple (3) and the calculation of the value (4), those topics will be developed separately. The first part of this seminar paper will focus on the global areas of risk of the method and the identification of the accurate value-drivers. The second part will be based on the best practices to identify a relevant a peer group and compute a synthetic peer group multiple, and general adjustment suggestion to improve the standard method. Finally, the third part will be a case study, applying on the recommendation and suggestion developed previously. The aim of this last part is to test our recommendations and develop a practical guide for potential other practitioners. Note de contenu : PGE: Bibliogr. P.
