CONTROLE ; INVENTAIRE ; PROGRAMMATION DYNAMIQUERésumé : Two of the most important objectives in supply chain and more specifically in inventory management is to minimize the cost and provide satisfactory level of service to the customers. For companies, inventory management plays the role as a balancer between supply and demand. It is also a buffer against uncertainty in the long and complex supply chain. Fundamental problems in this area are overstocking and understocking. With overstocking, the effects are high-cost storage, obsolete stock and tied-up capital. Thus, there has long been a strong interest to study for effective inventory control system. One of the most widely used inventory control policies is reorder – order-up-to level (s, S) system. In this paper, we attempt to implement dynamic programming algorithm to find optimal values of s, S in order to minimize the total cost of the system. We limit ourselves to the simple settings of single item, single level, single location with zero lead time and stationary stochastic Poisson demand. Stockout policy is considered with backorder allowance and backorder cost. Even though mathematical proof and interesting properties of optimal (s, S) system has been in existence since 1960 (Scarf, 1960), there is not a lot of available code published for this application to our knowledge. The goal of this is to provide valid algorithm code using Python to solve s, S to optimality. MATHEMATIQUESRésumé : A Guide to Business Mathematics provides a valuable self-study guide to business practitioners, business students and the general reader to enable them to gain an appropriate insight into the mathematics used in business. This book offers an accessible introduction to essential mathematics for the business field. A wide selection of topics is discussed with the mathematical material presented in a reader-friendly way. The business context motivates the presentation. The author uses modelling and applications to motivate the material, demonstrating how mathematics is used in the financial sector. In addition to the role of the actuary and the banker, the book covers operations research including game theory, trade discounts and the fundamentals of statistics and probability. The book is also a guide to using metrics to manage and measure performance, and business economics. Foundations on algebra, number theory, sequences and series, matrix theory and calculus are included as is a complete chapter on using software. COMPTABILITE ; MODELISATION ; TABLEURRésumé : If you have had little formal training in developing financial forecasts in Excel or have ever burnt the midnight oil trying to get a Balance Sheet to balance, then this book is for you. A simple walkthrough of the common perils and pitfalls of financial modelling, this book constructs a solid foundation to build upon (pun most definitely intended). Taking little for granted, Liam examines the common Excel functions and functionalities necessary, emphasises the importance of a standardised and functional layout, explains accounting concepts simply and reinforces the four key concepts of a "Best Practice" model: Consistency, Robustness, Flexibility and Transparency – CraFT. With over 50 examples and an extended case study that creates a simple financial model from scratch to highlight the key concepts, this is a "hands on" book, focused on working with Excel more efficiently and effectively. A simple process, this methodology has been adopted by many seasoned professionals without resorting to balancing figures, circulars and macros.
