In this research paper, we will question the role of fintechs in the decarbonation of the economy. Throughout this thesis, we will compare fintechs and traditional banks in order to know if fintechs have a role, if banks have the most important role, or if it is the other way around.First of all, we carried out a literary review in order to obtain a first answer to our problem.We first introduced ecological awareness in general, then applied it to the world of finance. It is important to see its evolution and its integration into mores. Today, everyone recognizes the importance of climate change, whether they believe in it or not.Subsequently, we discussed the impact of traditional banks in sustainable development. We have seen the disastrous impact of banks on the environment, in particular through the financing of polluting industries (plastic, gas, oil), but we have observed a radical change in banks towards more CSR policies. Despite the fact that it is difficult to know whether these policies are greenwashing or not, there is a
real shift towards more responsible banks.Finally, we discussed fintechs and green fintechs. We have traced their history as well as their link with traditional banks (their synergies and their differences). We were able to begin to see the potential role of fintechs in sustainable development |
