TRANSPORT ; DEVELOPPEMENT DURABLE ; ESTHETIQUE INDUSTRIELLE ; AUTOMOBILE SECTEURRésumé : The central premise of Design for Transport is that the designer's role is to approach design for transport from the point of view of the user. People have a collection of wants and needs and a significant proportion of them are to do with their requirements for mobility. The authors show how creative designers can take a user-focused approach for a wide range of types of transport products and systems. In so doing their starting point is one of creative dissatisfaction with what is currently available, and their specialist capability is in imagining and developing new solutions which respond to that opportunity. How this is tackled varies depending on the context, and the variety of solutions produced reflects the different aspirations and needs of the people they are designing for.
The chapters cover user needs and transport, design and the transport system, transport design case studies, and the case for the automobile. A conclusion briefly signals what the future for transport design might be.
Lavishly illustrated throughout in four-colour, Design for Transport, is an imaginative and rigorous guide to how designers can take a user-centred and socially responsible approach to tackling a range of types of transport, from systems to products and from bicycles to automobiles, demonstrating a rich array of solutions through case studies.Note de contenu : Introduction, Michael Tovey; Section 1 User Needs and Transport: User-centred transport design and user needs, Andrée Woodcock; User-centred information design for the traveller, Clive Richards. AUTOMOBILE SECTEUR ; DEVELOPPEMENT DURABLE ; ECOLOGIERésumé : The automotive industry constitutes the backbone of the world's economy and employs the greatest share of the working population. It has been contributing to the growth of modern society by satisfying everyday mobility. However, it has been accused of affecting the environment and public health, and thus finding new methods of propulsion for automotives is currently a subject of intense debate. In this volume, the concept of sustainable development has been correlated with the main theoretical framework of production analysis and managerial economics, that is: manufacturing and architecture theories; theory of comparative advantage of design location; design driven and design thinking theories; concepts-knowledge models; rule-based and innovative design regimes; path dependency theory; literature on breakthrough and disruptive innovations; studies on technology competition; reasoned action and planned behavior theories; institutional theoretical approaches; firm growth theories; smart grid paradigm; business model innovation; definition of scenarios through analytic hierarchy process models and consumer framing. CRISE ECONOMIQUE ; HISTOIRE ; AUTOMOBILE SECTEURRésumé : The economic downturn of 2008-2009 and the disaster that hit Japan in 2011 exasperated the structural problems of the automotive industry, ranging from over-stretched supply chains to excess capacity and pressures to generate more environmentally-friendly products. Car production recovered swiftly from 2008 but several of the largest car manufacturers are in trouble, and the industry suffers from low levels of profitability. This book outlines the status of the industry and analyses the challenges that car-makers are facing, taking advantage of the multidisciplinary and cross-country expertise of the authors. Its chapters underline the importance of emerging markets, not only as drivers of demand growth but possibly also as loci of future innovations Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154035 Exemplaires(1)
