EMPLOYE ; LEADERSHIP ; MOTIVATION ; RELATION ; TRAVAIL A DISTANCERésumé : Charismatic leadership is one of the most studied leadership styles in the literature. Its potential effects on followers are very important and can have great repercussions on the organization. Such leaders have the power to influence their followers’ actions and lead them to perform beyond expectations through various techniques. Researchers commonly agree of its positive effects on employee performance and satisfaction. My aim in this paper, is to test this statement in the most difficult context of crisis the whole world has yet seen in the 21st century: Covid 19. With workers having to telework without the normal social interactions they used to have, being forced to adapt to this specific atmosphere and keep up with the objectives fixed, many have the feeling of being disconnected from work and lose sight of the purpose in their engagement. I wanted to see if charismatic leadership could in this specific context, have a positive impact on job satisfaction. To test this hypothesis, I sent a survey by mail to friends, family, colleagues, and random individuals that were or have been under the supervision of a leader. Close to one hundred responses were collected. The data gathered fully validated my hypothesis. This is the reflect of a true measure of the impact of charismatic leadership on job satisfaction in a real and severe crisis context. EMPLOYE ; LEADERSHIP ; GESTION DE CRISE ; TRAVAIL A DISTANCE ; QUALITE DE VIE AU TRAVAILRésumé : Organizations and their employees currently face a change in behaviors as a consequence of the covid-19 worldwide crisis. It is well-established that well-being at work and job satisfaction are positive for employees, customers and the whole organization in terms of performance, sustainability and development. This study aims to determine how humble leaders contribute to job satisfaction of their employees. Specifically, it investigates whether the impact of humble leadership on employees is positive or not. In this context, humble leadership is defined as a leadership style that leaders who admit their own mistakes and limitations, highlight followers’ strengths and contributions, and model teachability (Owens & Hekman, 2012) and is studied along other concepts like well-being, work well-being and job satisfaction. To test the hypothesis that humble leadership positively influences job satisfaction of the employees, an online questionnaire was distributed to people. Respondents were randomly selected and asked to respond to our different questions. Responses were analyzed using a regression. The results showed a positive effect of humble leadership, in the direction we hypothesized: humble leadership was positively associated with job satisfaction of the employees. RESPONSABILITE SOCIALE DE L'ENTREPRISE ; EMPLOYE ; MOTIVATIONRésumé : Purpose: The purpose of our study is to examine the positive influence of CSR on employee engagement thanks to the mediator role of work meaningfulness. Methods: A survey was conducted on 208 respondents. They randomly faced one of the two different scenarios (“no CSR policy” and “high CSR policy”) to measure the impact of CSR on work meaningfulness and on employee engagement.Findings: The results show that CSR is positively related to work meaningfulness. Nevertheless, it shows also that work meaningfulness has a negative impact on employee engagement and the mediator role of work meaningfulness in the relationship between CSR and employee engagement is not supported by the statistical results.
Research limitations: The use of scenarios involves some risks including the difficulty respondents had to project themselves in the given and fictional situation. Also, there is a lack of information regarding the work in the scenario and the scale used to measure employee engagement puts the emphasis on work rather than on the company.Contributions: This paper contributes to explain the positive impact of CSR on employee work meaningfulness and its strategic role for companies. Keywords: Corporate Social Responsibility, Work meaningfulness, CSR, Employee Engagement.
