ENTREPRISE ; MOYEN DE PAIEMENT ; FINANCEMENT ; MONNAIE ELECTRONIQUERésumé : This paper explores initial coin offerings can be issued by companies — whereby they issue crypto tokens and commit to accept only those tokens as payment for future use of a digital platform — to accelerate their development and get out of difficult situations. We show that the traditional ways of financing aren’t accessible for all companies and are complex to benefit from. We find that the companies use ICO as an easy and fast method to procure funds. However, we specify that a very adapted and accurate business plan or restructuring strategy is fundamental in ensuring the success of the ICO. Furthermore, by implementing the cryptocurrency in the company’s platform, the firm adapts to the technology and gets ready for the new practices of the future. We highlight the role of investors and regulation in the ICO success. Overall, our paper suggests that ICO, if perfected, can be a viable way for struggling companies to get back on top of their industry. INDICE BOURSIER ; REMUNERATION ; ENTREPRISE ; CADRERésumé : This study examines the integration of CSR contracting in executive remuneration policy and its possible link with a company’s better performance in the CAC40 index compared to the other firms. We test this proposition for a sample of ten French listed companies belonging to the CAC40 and which have adopted mature CSR targets in their executive compensation. Then, we have compared stock excess returns and CSR/ESG ratings of the ten selected companies from January 2009 to January 2020 with the remaining 30 CAC40 companies. Then, we prove that the incorporation of CSR targets in executive compensation plan leads not always to stock outperformance but firms with advanced CSR contracting have more chance to be better rated regarding extra financial performance although the link may be indirect.
Programme : PGE-Rouen Spécialisation : Audit Expertise Conseil (AEC) Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=529172 Leveraged buyouts and business performances. ENTREPRISE ; FINANCE D'ENTREPRISE ; PERFORMANCERésumé : The end of the year 2019 was marked by the takeover of the American jeweler Tiffany & Co by the French luxury giant LVMH. More than the importance of the transaction in the reorganization of the global luxury landscape, it is the amount committed by LVMH that is of concern. As a matter of fact, the transaction amounts to more than 16 billion euros. "The financing of this acquisition was carried out through a credit facility of nearly 15 billion euros. This transaction is one of the main credit operations carried out this year on the European debt market, as well as one of the largest buyout operations in the luxury goods sector"1. The LVMH-Tiffany & Co transaction thus takes the form of an LBO (leveraged buyout), one of the largest in recent years. The amount of credit raised highlights the significant strike force of leverage in buyouts.
