PAYS EN DEVELOPPEMENT ; RELATIONS INTERNATIONALES ; ECONOMIE INTERNATIONALE ; DEVELOPPEMENT ECONOMIQUERésumé : This book provides a broad and in-depth introduction to the geopolitical, economic and trade changes wrought with the increasing influence of the countries of the Global South in international affairs. The global role of the developing countries came to the forefront in 1974, when the United Nations General Assembly promulgated The New International Economic Order. Since then, the countries of the Global South, particularly China, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Qatar, made an indelible impact upon the world's economic architecture. However, their true influence became starkly illustrated during the onset of the 2000s, when several seismic events occured. The September Eleventh terrorist attacks -with the resultant debilitating wars in Iraq and Afghanistan- extreme world commodity price increases and the global financial crisis of 2007-2008 all served to wrench the epicenter of global influence increasingly southward. While the developed countries of the Global North became mired in economic stagnationwith problems associated with global financial crisis, their collective influence waned. Since then, the world has been attempting to accomodate, somewhat unevenly, the rising geopolitical and economic clout of the Global South.
This book presents a collection of scholarly articles that, taken together, functions as a primer on the workings of the immense global changes at the beginning of the twenty-first century.Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=154875 Exemplaires(1)

ECONOMIE INTERNATIONALE ; UNION ECONOMIQUE ; UNION EUROPEENNERésumé : First published in 1962, The Theory of Economic Integrationprovides an excellent exposition of a complex and far-reaching topic. Professor Balassa has been remarkably successful in covering so much ground with such care and balance, in a treatment which is neither in any way
abstruse nor unnecessarily technical. His book will interest economists in Europe by reason of its subject and treatment, but it is also a valuable and reliable textbook for students tackling integration as part of a course of International Economics and for those studying Public Finance. He distinguishes between the various forms of integration (free trade area, customs union, common market, economics union, and total integration). In addition, he applies the theoretical principles to current projects such as the European Common Market and Free Trade Area, and to Latin American integration projects. In offering this theoretical study, the author builds on the conclusions of other writers, but goes beyond this in providing a unifying framework for previous contributions and in exploring questions that in the past received little attention; in particular, the relationship between economic integration and growth (especially the interrelationship between market size and growth, and the implications of various factors for economic growth in an integrated area).Permalink : https://cataloguelibrary.neoma-bs.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=155111 Exemplaires(1)
