In one day, Volkswagen's share price fell by 17.14% and its market capitalization dropped by 15 billion euros. The multinational company recovered its previous value and exceeded the 100-billion-euros market capitalization again only in March 2021.That day, all portfolio managers holding Volkswagen shares in their portfolio lost a lot. Can we prevent these kinds of scandals? After explaining how and why SRI has developed, this seminar paper will focus on the different ways SRI is applied in asset management for listed assets. One of the supply chains sectors that was the most impacted in this pandemic crisis was the automotive industry. In this paper, I chose to focus on five big groups of car manufacturers: Volkswagen AG, Daimler AG, BMW group, Renault group and General Motors. Therefore, my thesis will show and illustrate the impacts and consequences of Covid on automotive supply chains; But, more specifically, it will analyze the actions taken during the pandemic as for example the decision to shut down some locations and to do onshoring. Moreover, the problematic that I will try to solve is about the future perspective of automotive supply chains: what would be the best decision to take, stay onshore and do less offshore? or to be back at a high rate of outsourcing operations and take the risk to be again vulnerable with this type of situation?
