Résumé : |
This paper focuses on the application of new digital technologies (Internet of Things, applications, smart technologies) in the field of food waste management. Food loss and waste occurs at each stage of the food supply chain, from farmers to consumers. This research paper therefore explores the following research question : are digital technologies effective tools to tackle food waste? After an overview of food loss and waste through the literature review, this research paper will then focus on the solutions using digital technologies for reducing food loss and waste and present various initiatives implemented along the later stages of the FSC (consumers and retailers). It will conclude by offering an analysis of the use of these technologies in food loss and waste reduction. Reducing food loss and waste is an issue that needs to be tackled across the whole food supply chain, and if digital technologies are indeed the future of this value chain, all actors must realise that a common action must be put in place. |
