Based on the growing opposition between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and social business, this paper intends to measure and compare the social impact of corporations committed to CSR with the one made by social enterprises. In accordance to that aim, this paper first provides definitions of the concepts relevant to this research, as well as theoretical framework outlining the reasons for the common opposition between CSR and social business. It furthers proposes to measure and compare the social impact of six different organizations through multiple case studies, built on both qualitative and quantitative data. Research findings show that CSR programmes and social enterprises can achieve similar results in terms of social impact. This paper concludes with proposals for future research initiatives and reflexion upon social impact measurement, as well as cooperation strategies between corporations and social enterprises. |
