Résumé : |
As the future of Bitcoin is deeply uncertain, different opinions are expressed. The evolution of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is very unclear in terms of trust from the consumers, investors, and various stakeholders. A main concern about cryptocurrencies viability is largely based on the high need of energy. To produce the scarce coin, a huge amount of calculations is made. As the Bitcoin is getting older and gains a wider scale, the algorithm gets more and more complex and needs always more efficient hardware. In other words, the energy spent to produce Bitcoin, continues to increase and affect more the earth. Energetical footprint and energy costs are two concerns, that drive analysts to question a lot the future of Bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies in general. On the other hand, Bitcoin has a finished amount. The availability and complexity of the Bitcoin have a regular evolution, as its growth follows a linear growth. From there, it seems that prediction is possible to forecast its future, and to make Bitcoin a financial resource sustainable in a new economy, not only governed by financial institutions and traditional currencies. This paper is based on latest researches on the subjects and consists in an analysis interpreting these results. |
