Résumé : |
China is leading the global economy in purchasing power parity terms as well as the FinTech market. Yet, the financial institutions and the Chinese traditional banking system are still underdeveloped and immature but they have already been influenced and impacted by the phenomenon of FinTech. This trend is correlated with the increase in unregulated financing activities. While FinTech and shadow banking can improve regulation and the global economy, they also can disrupt the financial sectors particularly in China where unregulated shadow banks activities are growing. This paper will try to address some questions as: why is the shadow banking industry so large in China? How do FinTech in China support the informal parallel banking system? Why and how do FinTech and shadow banking need to be controlled? This paper provides the drivers of the fast growth of shadow banking in China including the expansion of FinTech services and the response to these trends focusing on regulatory measures. |
