Résumé : |
It’s been more than thirty years that globalization has changed the rules and especially between the firms. Everything is more connected, there are less and less boundaries and the huge flux between the companies made the competition between them global. Companies must find ways to be competitive and to differentiate themselves from others to survive on the market.
With globalization also came the development of new technologies that helped the companies to gain some efficiency and to use new tools.
Especially, since the years 2010 came a new phenomenon: Big Data. It has been defined in many ways as “unstructured and unrelated data which are hard to analyse” (Ebert, 2017). But, well managed, it can help the firm to improve their productivity and operations. It means that with the new tools and technology devices, we have potentially access to a larger quantity of data. Usually, Big Data is defined by the 3Vs invented by Doug Laney de Gartner in 2001 as Volume, Variety and Velocity. Now, it is commonly extended to the 5Vs: Variety, Velocity, Volume, Veracity and Variability. That means that with these predictive analytics, companies have potentially access to information that will gave them a strategic advantage. According to Mayer and Cukier (2013) in “Big Data: a revolution that will transform the way we live, work and think”, “Data has become a raw material for businesses”. And for the companies, it has been useful in Logistics, Finance and more especially in Marketing, responding to the new trend of the client experience. As it is influencing all the departments of the company, it is naturally that specialists asserted that Big Data will deeply transform Human Resources. |
