Résumé : |
Grandiose narcissism is one of the most widespread negative personality traits among leaders. Their need for admiration and grandiosity pushes narcissistic leaders to engage counterproductive work behaviours against their organization and its employees. I wanted to prove that narcissistic leaders have a negative effect on their follower well-being. As well-being at work is partly defined by the organizational support, I wanted to show that there is a positive relationship between perceived organizational support and follower well-being at work. My research question was studying the impact of narcissistic leaders on their follower well-being moderated by the perceived organizational support. I tested my hypothesis through an online quantitative questionnaire send by email to follower/leader dyads from very different organizations. 96 dyads fully answered. The data gathered were not sufficient to prove my hypothesises but the results did not reject my assumptions either. More data are needed to transform my hypothesises into real statements.
Topics : grandiose narcissism, leadership, well-being at work, perceived organizational support
