Résumé : |
The following seminar paper aims at providing a better understanding of what is at stake in the gig economy regarding gender management. The goal is to illustrate the fact that gig economy is an innovation which offers many opportunities for millions of workers but does not change the story when it comes to gender inequalities. Indeed, companies inside the gig economy are reproducing gender inequalities through new machanisms linked to the digitalization of employment and practices inside them. But, gender inequalities remain also because gig economy is still new and not developed in the legal area and so, presents drawbacks too strong to yet appeal to women.
To this end, I will present a literature review on the matter of gender inequalities in the workforce. Some concerns have already been adressed in literature regarding gig economy such as employment transformation due to digital but gender management is under documented for now.
Then, to illustrate the theories extracted from the literature review, a methodology procedure and the analysis of the results will be presented and finally discused at the end of this seminar paper. I will also present some perspectives regarding the subject and go further in the thinking by deepening the role of employment stakeholders in gender management.
What comes out at the very end of the seminar paper is that gender inequalities are still existing and gig economy did not achieve to close the gender gap for now but that we should remain optimistic and hope for a better future for female gig workers for good reasons that I will present. |
