Résumé : |
This seminar paper aims to studying the impact of ownership structure on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities and value creation. Ownership structure has an impact on company’s decisions and thus on CSR. In line with this, we examine the different theories and links established between ownership structure and CSR in order to be able to understand all the ins and outs.
Then, we focus on the correlation between the different types of ownership structure and CSR activities and value creation through a causal research. The results show that only institutional ownership is correlated (negatively) to CSR. However, these results are biased by the opposite vision between short -term and long-term institutional shareholders in line with CSR.
Finally, to adopt a more global point of view, we make a study case on two companies with the same ownership structure in t he same sector and country but with respectively a private and public ownership. Our results show that both companies have the same CSR considerations and strategies and that the differences are only in terms of scales or tools.
Thanks to this seminar paper, we see that ownership structure has not such an impact on CSR activities and value creation and that CSR depends on other factors. |
