We assist today to a changing of the economic landscape. Several forces are at play in this seismic shift: technological change, globalization, demographic change, environmental sustainability, increasing inequality, political uncertainty, etc. These elements are interlinked, and each has an impact on the organization of work. However, the force that most profoundly influences the labor market remains the digital evolution. AI, automation, robotization, digitization, smart technologies, are not new phenomena, but their pace of progress today is. They are shaking up the labor market and pushing workers to adapt themselves to a new world with a reallocation between workers and machines. Smart technologies create challenges for the skillsets of today’s workforce. Intelligent technologies would destroy works as much as they can help create individually tailored learning paths for workers, keeping people agile and business relevant. The workforce faces a new conception of work. Workers need to adapt to the coming age of AI. |
