Résumé : |
This paper highlights the approaches that cultural institutions or any structure having a museal activity of welcoming or conceptualizing temporary art exhibitions can apply to reduce their environmental impact. Therefore, this paper was built after having collected several secondary data coming from different environmental programs, CSR policies, official academic or governmental publications etc. but also after having conducted five qualitative interviews with professionals of the cultural sector (exhibition managers, CSR specialists/managers). It comes out that there is a growing concern in the cultural sector about the environmental impact that their activity produces however the sector is late on tackling it. The first step of measuring the environmental impact is far too often not even took. That is why this paper emphasizes the sources of pollutions created, the ways to measure the impacts and the concrete implementations possible. It stresses on identification, understanding and tackling of the problem.
It is important to mention that this document addresses mainly the case of Parisian cultural institutions, but I believe that some outlines can be also extended to different typologies of temporary exhibitions and out bordered.
