Résumé : |
Madagascar is the 5th country most affected by malnutrition, 43% of the mortality of children aged 0 to 5 years is caused by malnutrition. It is estimated that food insecurity affects about 35% of Malagasy households and that the country is one of the poorest in the world, where 92% of the inhabitants live below the poverty line.
The various actors impacted in one way or another, such as governments, NGOs, private companies, civil society and donors, all have their role to play. To fight this scourge, they all pull together and support each other to highlight the various action plans.
Nevertheless, as in all projects, differences of opinion are rife on how to direct actions and/or distribute funding in particular. The great poverty in which several regions are plunged, especially those in the south of the country, makes intervention difficult and progress hardly visible. More major efforts are still needed to improve the critical situation in the country, which for several years has seen only negative increases in child malnutrition figures.
