In this seminar paper, the outline of the research deals with the theme Organization Structure and Scope of Work for a Procurement Function. Procurement is concerned with acquiring all the goods and services which is indispensable for an organization. Starting from the definition, the problem that arises is the choice between the different types of procurement organization, companies have to make. The main purpose of the seminar paper is to analyze the structure of the centralized procurement of an organization. The additional goal is to understand the scope of work for buyers who work specially in firms which operate globally.
The research of this seminar paper attempts to answer the main issue which is:
• How could the procurement organization improve its performance by changing the centralization of tasks?
Based on a case study and while finding the answers to the main issue, the writing addresses the following question:
• To what extent does the centralization of the procurement function bring value to Nestlé?
Through a literature review and discussions with buyers from Nestlé, it turns out that centralization more precisely a center-led procurement organization is the best type of procurement for multinational firms such as Nestlé. The research shows also that support functions and some tools of work are key elements to reach the objectives of the organization.
