Résumé : |
This paper aims at highlighting the characteristics and challenges faced by social incubators. The field of entrepreneurship is gaining traction all over the world, alongside with a new trend that started to grow : social business. The tools that are used in the field of business support thus had to evolve to integrate those new business models. That’s why social incubators were created with the mission to help entrepreneurs willing to put social and/or environmental concerns at the heart of their economic activities.
I thus interviewed seven French social incubators’ managers to collect data on their incubation training programs, mechanisms and wider thoughts on the subject. I found out that they were all sharing similarities in their operating structure, providing the same resources and putting the stress on networking opportunities. I also came to the conclusion that social incubators were facing a lot of challenges nowadays: finding a viable business model and reaching a more diversified population. Social incubators could tackle those issues by uniting and joining forces to work on the development of innovative solutions. |
