This paper aims to clarify the context of the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) related practices in Morocco as well as the measures taken by the kingdom to procure a sustainable development for the country. It will also provide a small review of existing concepts of CSR and the main theories that tackled the relationship between this latter and the financial performance of the company. Finally, the study will try to establish a linkage of the CSR practices with the financial performance of 20 listed companies in the Casablanca Stock Exchange. The financial performance is quantified by the ROA and Tobin’s Q measures in order to have a view on its accounting based and its market-based evaluation. We will find that there is no significant impact of the CSR label on the financial performance of the companies of the sample. The hypotheses already stated are then supported. |
