I couldn’t help but notice that in the past few years, several video games studios started publishing remasters of their iconic licenses like Microsoft and their Age of Empires series, or Square Enix with Final Fantasy VII, among others. And being a gamer myself, I pretty much loved to see these back and better adapted to modern gaming technologies. And I myself, regularly enjoy playing to the games I used to when I was a kid, just because I want to see whether I’m better at it, or simply because it reminds me of the good old days, out of nostalgia. And I started to wonder whether I was the only one to feel this way for video games. Hence, the opportunity to mix my seminar paper with a subject that I love seemed a good opportunity to look at this interrogation from a marketing perspective.
