Résumé : |
Following the tremenduous growth of passive investment funds over the last 20 years, many debates opposing active and passive portfolio management have emerged. Having completed a 6-month internship at a portfolio management company, and eager of working in the asset management sector, I myself was confronted with this debate. For these reasons, I wanted to focus my final thesis on this subject. Thus, this final dissertation will focus on the rationales behind the skyrocketing growth of index funds and ETFs within the investment industry. We will have the opportunity to compare the performance of actively managed equity mutual funds with that of their peer passive alternative. We will also discuss the arguments that suggest that active management strategies will continue to be used. To do so, I will use the NEOMA Library and Google Scholar to draw on academic articles. I will also use Google to search for financial journal articles and some data and I will use the CFA Program courses to define the concepts we will encounter throughout this study. |
