This professional thesis deals with the subject of "total traceability in the supply chain", because nowadays product traceability is more and more important. This represents a real challenge for companies that can benefit greatly from the implementation of traceability systems. Moreover, since the recent food scandals such as Findus and horse meat, consumers are demanding more transparency on the origin of food products and in the supply chain of companies. This thesis explains the functioning of traceability systems in detail, the implementation of these systems in companies and the stakes of total traceability. My research will answer the following questions:
Why do companies need full supply chain traceability?
How do they implement these systems?
