Résumé : |
Charismatic leadership is one of the most studied leadership styles in the literature. Its potential effects on followers are very important and can have great repercussions on the organization. Such leaders have the power to influence their followers’ actions and lead them to perform beyond expectations through various techniques. Researchers commonly agree of its positive effects on employee performance and satisfaction. My aim in this paper, is to test this statement in the most difficult context of crisis the whole world has yet seen in the 21st century: Covid 19. With workers having to telework without the normal social interactions they used to have, being forced to adapt to this specific atmosphere and keep up with the objectives fixed, many have the feeling of being disconnected from work and lose sight of the purpose in their engagement. I wanted to see if charismatic leadership could in this specific context, have a positive impact on job satisfaction. To test this hypothesis, I sent a survey by mail to friends, family, colleagues, and random individuals that were or have been under the supervision of a leader. Close to one hundred responses were collected. The data gathered fully validated my hypothesis. This is the reflect of a true measure of the impact of charismatic leadership on job satisfaction in a real and severe crisis context. |
