This seminar paper aims to analyze the wind power market. This market, which is governed by unique criteria, is closely intertwined with the European strategy of opening to competition and environmental policies. The companies must answer to economic and political rules. Their long-term strategies are therefore difficult to build because the risks they face are multiple. The example of Voltalia is used to observe its strategy and risk management. However, the future risks, related to the physical aspect of electricity, are still poorly known and are therefore analyzed in this seminar. Indeed, the market is likely to encounter increasing difficulties, especially because of public intervention in the market. Thus, proposals are discussed to decrease these risks, and finally the upcoming positioning of some start-ups on the market is deciphered and shows that it could be at the dawn of a major transformation on the electricity market. |
