The financial system is undergoing continuous consolidation through mergers and acquisitions transactions. The European banks are also following this worldwide trend. This paper analyses the M&A consolidation between two French banks; BNP,and Paribas. The objectives of this study is to analyze the motives behind this operation taking into account the financial regulations. The paper includes also the profiles and key points of the banks involved in this transaction, the chronology of the events leading to the final outcome and finally analyzes through financial ratios and statistics the proposed synergies and the results. The analysis is important to understand the outcome and give relevant conclusion. |
