The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II) is a financial services directive that entered into force in the European Union (EU) on January 3, 2018. MiFID II applies to the 31 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA), which includes the 28 EU members plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. One of the important changes under MiFID II is the requirement for asset managers and brokers to unbundle the cost of research and investment advisory services from the cost of trade execution. |
