This paper aims at exploring the major digital shifts that reshaped the art market and especially the contemporary art market in the fine art sector with a focus on international art galleries. We particularly discuss the reasons why the contemporary art market has lagged behind other cultural industries regarding digital strategies. The field of art galleries was interesting in the sense that there are not a lot of scholars and academic papers that already studied this phenomenon. The purpose of this dissertation therefore attempts to fill the literary gap based on empirical analysis with both quantitative and qualitative data. |
