Résumé : |
Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (or SPACs) raised more money in 2021 than standard IPOs and are increasingly featured in the financial press, particularly high-profile SPACs that offer investors a big return on investment. At the same time, most research on the subject are becoming outdated and may no longer be applicable. Using a lifecycle approach, we investigate how SPACs provide returns to their investors and discover that IPO and warrant investors can expect to earn an excess return on their investment, while others are certain to experience a negative return. Additionally, we highlight the evolution of the SPAC market in comparison to five years ago, with an improvement for post-merger investors. |
